“Zar and I were working on another song at the time of making Surface.. he showed me the foundations of the beat as something he was working on and I proper loved it.. gentle jungle percussion with a smooth deep bass line and a touch of soul in the horns, that got me groovin straight away .. for the lyrics I took inspiration from friendships and how things are taken at face value a lot of the time, especially with social media - it’s mad, I like realness, I like deep meaningful friend- ships and connections and I feel it’s forgotten in real life. Having each others back and helping people along the way!
After we had the first demo, we tried it out at Zar’s night Rare Groove, it went off and we knew we had something special on the go.. I’d been workin with Zar a pretty short time but every time we have a studio session it was magic, we’ve really clicked musically and got to know each others creative style and work” EVABEE
